Gunner Lakins Commits to Mississippi Valley University

Gunner Lakins announced "First, I wanna thank Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, my family, and my friends that have helped me along this journey. I'm excited and blessed to announce my commitment to Mississippi Valley State University to continue my athletic and academic career!"

Head Coach Collin Maynard expressed his confidence in Lakins, stating, "I believe Gunner's time has prepared him very well for Mississippi Valley State University. He has developed into a very strong hitter with elite power. He has also begun to develop as a pitcher where he runs his fastball up to 92 MPH."

Throughout the spring season, Lakins has proven to be an indispensable asset to his current team. Coach Maynard further emphasized Lakins's contributions, noting, "This Spring Gunner has been a vital piece to our team. He has consistently played first base as well as being a quality relief pitcher. He brings an intimidating presence both in the box and on the mound and always looks to do damage."

Coach Maynard expressed his pride in Lakins's commitment to MVSU, stating, "I am extremely proud of Gunner's commitment to Mississippi Valley State University. He has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, and I expect him to have nothing but success in their program. I expect Gunner to make an immediate impact for MVSU from day one, both at the plate and on the mound. I know he will continue his hard work and dedication on their campus as well."

During his time here, he played in 46 games, had 29 hits, and 4 home runs. In conference play this Spring, Gunner hit .340 with 4 doubles and 2 Home Runs.
